The whimsical gentlemen who populate Linotype Mnneken, a symbol font from theTake Type 4 collection from Linotype all appear to be trying to go about their everyday activities. Occasionally, like almost all of us, they stumble into difficulties. If you are looking for a glyph displaying a man in a suit accidentally rolling down a hill, look no further! Even if your search less specific, Linotype Mnneken offers a witty touch that can lend a breath of fresh air to almost any newsletter, flyer, or other communication project. Unlike many symbol fonts, Linotype Mnneken's pictograms retain a touch of their creator's hand in their appearance. The characters seems to have been drawn with a fine layout marker. No cold, computer-generated icons are anywhere to be found here. German designer/illustrator Martina Theisen designed Linotype Mnneken in 2002. This pictographic family displays 104 uniquely drawn figures, in two separate typefaces, Linotype Mnneken and Linotype Mnneken. Mnneken's pictograms work exceptionally well when paired with Martina Thiesen's other symbol and text faces. |
