Although based on a typeface first drawn for hand-set metal typesetting in the 1930s, the now digital Square Slabserif 711 typeface family from the Bitstream library still appears contemporary. Its geometric structure of right angles and opposing round corners also give the design an enduring industrial strength demeanor. The family is available in three relatively condensed weights of light, medium and bold. Serifs were removed from several characters in the bold weight to maintain space efficiency.
Although there are no italic designs, Square Slabserif 711 is a versatile family for both print and on-screen use, and can be found in everything from digital games to hardcopy posters and book covers. |
