Virtuosa Classic, created by Hermann Zapf and Akira Kobayashi, is the 21st century OpenType re-release of a classic Hermann Zapf design. Virtuosa was Hermann Zapfs very first script typeface. Based on the same sketches from 1944 that would go on to inspire Zapfino during the 1990s, Hermann Zapf developed the Virtuosa design in 1948 49. The typeface was originally released in metal by the Frankfurt-based D. Stempel AG in 1952. Virtuosa is an English copperplate script with character. Virtuosa Classic includes two form variants for each capital letter; there are also a number of alternates and ligatures included for the lowercase. |
