Peter Matthias NoordzijÕs PMN Caecilia¨ Sans shares the same skeletal structure as his slab serif PMN Caecilia family. While individual characters, weights and basic structure are based on the PMN Caecilia design, there are numerous distinctive and subtle differences between the two designs. PMN Caecilia Sans is optimized for on-screen imaging. A large family of seven weights, each with six stylistic variations of roman, italic, cursive, oblique and ÒheadlineÓ versions of the roman and oblique designs, the family spans 42 designs. The headline designs have adjusted spacing and kerning for optimal setting at display sizes. Cursive designs are, as the name implies, true italics with forms based in cursive lettering, while the obliques are subtle, slanted versions, based on the roman letterforms. PMN Caecilia Sans benefits from features such as small caps, old style and lining figures for both text and tabular use, and a large series of alternate characters. OpenType fonts also provide a large character set supporting Western and many Eastern European languages. While PMN Caecilia Sans can be paired perfectly with PMN Caecilia in a wide variety of uses, it also stands on its own as a powerful and versatile typeface family. |
