The Neue Kabel¨ typeface family, from Marc Schtz, takes the original charm of Rudolf KochÕs 1927 design and ushers it into the 21st century. The original typeface was first released as just one weight and grew to a family of 9 designs over several years. Unlike most contemporary typefaces, however, the various versions of the first Kabel family were dissimilar in proportion and suffered from varying character traits. Neue Kabel maintains the original rhythm and proportions of KochÕs design, and adds the consistent design traits and family structure of a 21st century design. Text copy set in Neue Kabel echoes the elegance and playfulness of KochÕs design, while delivering the versatility to excel in a wide variety of print and digital environments. The Neue Kabel family of 18 roman and italic designs is available as OpenType¨ Pro fonts featuring including small caps, 8 sets of figures and many historical stylistic alternates. Pro fonts also include an extended character set supporting most Central European and many Eastern European languages. |
