Designed for ParaType in 2001 by Vladimir Pavlikov. An expanded Sans Serif with square letterform, because of that the face was named. Based on the shapes of one of the Russian old wooden type. Wooden types were used for placard display composition in large sizes. Their printouts have carried wooden texture and traces of exploitation. Quadrat Grotesk has reflected these features in its shapes. It is a good typeface for display and advertising typography. |
